The courses on offer for 2009/2010 are designed to fit within the Foundation Learning Tier 14 – 19 reforms which focus on qualifications at entry level and level 1 in the qualifications pathway. Full implementation will take place from 2010. One of these areas is the Vocational Knowledge, skills and understanding. With credits building up to Awards, Certificates and Diplomas. They are designed as stand alone qualifications or they can fit into the curriculum within your school. All courses on offer are recognized on the (QCF) Qualification Credit Framework, giving credit points at GCSE ‘s. ASDAN Wider Key Skills; Improve Own Learning, Working With Others and Problem Solving; each carry 18.8. NOCN step up will fit within other NOCN qualifications running within school or with other providers. The ABC Motor Vehicle Awards can be built up starting at Award level in the first year, progressing to the Certificate in the second year, and onto Diploma at higher education level. The ABC is a fully recognized qualification in the Occupational Standard within the motor vehicle industry. Work based learning is becoming more acceptable, giving young people the chance to experience the working environment, and a chance to try out skills before leaving school. This is in line with the guidelines from the government, in their attempt, to up skill our workforce.   
ASDAN If a pupil attends for a full academic year, for 1 day a week we aim to deliver: Improving Own Learning, Working with Others and Problem Solving, one area will be delivered per term. OCN step up award Aims of Step-UP Qualifications: • To engage and motivate learners to identify their individual and personal strengths for progression to post 16 study and/or employment.
• To provide learning opportunities that enable participants to realise their potential to progress to further and higher education.
• To provide information and advice to learners on possible progression routes, including to higher education.
• To recognise learning achievements through NOCN credits and other recognised qualifications to provide coherence and progression.
• To provide learning opportunities that are stimulating and engaging.
ABC Motor Vehicle Studies This will be achieved by working through Units to receive credits. One unit will be delivered per term. • Award: minimum 12 credits: Health and Safety, Introduction to Engineering and Equipment: Introduction to Motorcycle Maintenance.
On completion of the Award 25 points will be scored. For pupils attending a 2 year program: then a further 12 credits will be needed to achieve the Certificate, (24 in total). • Certificate: As above plus Introduction to Body Repair: Introduction to Vehicle Refinishing: Introduction to wheels and tyres: Introduction to exhaust systems.
On completion of the Certificate 75 points will be scored. Guided learning hours for the Award 120 hrs Guided learning hours for the Certificate 240 hrs Guided learning hours for the Diploma 380 hrs Engagement Courses can be delivered in 10 week blocks on request. Any other courses you may require simply ask and we will endeavor to accommodate you. None Accredited TrainingIgnition: Aimed at 15-16 year olds. This course is designed as an introduction to motoring; Teaching road safety to young people who are coming towards the age of being road legal. Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) can be incorporated if required. Internal accreditation offered. Signal: Aimed at 15-16 year olds. A BSM designed course for pre road driver training.
