BUMPY (Birstall Urban Motorcycle Project for Youth) is a charity which was set up in 1989.

What are our aims?

To provide a safe, supervised place for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in riding motorbikes on road and off road.

To educate young people who attend our facility in a range of programs including drugs awareness and the fire service are built into projects, motorcycles being the tool to engage the young people.

Over the years, we have changed, adapted and improved our facilities to provide the services which we deliver, to a diverse clientele many being hard to reach young people including those with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Close links with young people’s services along with the local church groups bring community cohesion into the heart of Bumpy.

Bumpy’s Young Riders Club has run over the years to include all members of the community in learning the respect and skills involved in riding off road. The club runs with it’s own committee, which is made up of members from the ages of 7 years, including 2 members of the original club from 1990. The club has evolved encouraging riders into the sport of trials riding raising self esteem built from the success of competing within the ACU.
 
Whatever your age, ability or background, BUMPY can help you get the most out of motorbiking, and most important of all HAVE FUN and KEEP SAFE.

• Revenue from a number of programs each help to keep the costs of our facilities affordable to all
• On Road Training CBT, Direct  Access, Advance Riding
• We give off road tuition to young people from 6 to 16 year old
• We offer membership facilities to the public who own their own bikes Trial / Enduro bikes / Quads (up to 100cc) to ride on our 9 acre site
• We offer a wealth of experience to young people running ASDAN and OCN accredited courses across the educational authorities
• We work closely with youth services around Northern England.

Bumpy is constantly looking to develop educational programs to deliver.
